Fun in the pool
For complete non swimmers. This stage covers the initial process of introducing
children into water. The course aims are to, develop basic safety awareness, movement and water confidence skills.

The course aims to build a sound foundation in those aspects of "watermanship
skills" develop safe enteries into the water including jumping in, basic floating, travel on front and back up to a distance of 5 meters plus rotation to regain upright positions.
During the course children will experiment with the different methods of using
their limbs for propulsion. Children will be introduced into treading water. To move
onto STAGE 3 children must be able to tread water and swim without support on
their front and or back 25m of a basic stroke and be confident in deep water.

This course continues to build competence in the basic elements of propulsion on the front and back. This course will concentrate on developing safe enteries including submersion, progression on rotation skills and water safety knowledge.To move on to STAGE 4 children must pass STAGE 3 and be able to swim 25m competently on their front and back.

The course aims are to continue to develop and improve upon watermanship skills and
stroke development.The course will develop an understanding of buoyancy through a range of skills, refining the kicking technique for all the strokes To move on to STAGE 5 children
must pass STAGE 4 and swim 50m to a basic standard.

The aim of the course is to develop watermanship through sculling and treading water skills and also complete rotation. Swimmers will perform all strokes to a high standard over a short distance. To move to STAGE 6swimmers must pass STAGE 5 and swim 100m to a basic standard.

Children will now be given the opportunity to progress their swimming development
to a more efficient level developing efficient swimming skills including co-ordinated breathing across all strokes. The course will give children an understanding of preperation for exercise. To move to STAGE 7 children must pass STAGE 6 and swim 200m competently.

This course will continue to develop all strokes to a high standard. The course will incorporate skills learnt and combining them to develop a linked routine and complete a successfully an obstacle course that combines skills learnt through STAGES 1 - 7.

The aim of the course is to develop confidence, initiative, judgment, teamwork and leadership skills. The course is divided into four elements, water safety, self rescue, rescue and emergency response.

Childrens Training Session for Advanced Swimmers
For children swimming four strokes to a high standard. The training sessions are aimed to develop the speed and endurance in each swimmer through coaching techniques as well as looking at the technical asspects of an individuals strokes to achieve maximum performance.

To introduce children to the water. The course aims to develop confidence,
introduce basic stroke movements leading to initial self propulsion. Working towards Duckling 1/2/3.

DIVING WILL ONLY BE PERMITTED AT THE DEEP END 2M. DIVING
MUST NOT TAKE PLACE ALONG THE SIDES OF THE POOL.
Minimum unaccompanied age : -
Children under 5 should ideally be accompanied on a 1:1 basis by a
responsible adult (adult is deemed to be 16 years or over).
Children under 8 should be accompanied in the pool by an adult regardless
of their swimming ability. One adult may accompany up to 2 children under 8.
No child under 10 is allowed in the pool unless accompanied by an adult
either in the water or on the poolside throughout.
Children under 7 are only allowed in the opposite sex changing room if
accompanied by a parent/guardian.
Persons responsible for children should be reminded of their duty to remain
in full eye contact of their child at all times during the visit to the pool.
If for any reason a child must be left for a short while, they must make
temporary arrangements to the satisfaction of the lifeguard.
Children should wear suitable attire i.e. briefs/full swimming costume
In addition, babies and young children who wear nappies should wear
protective pants.
It is recommended that ALL children wear a swimming cap.
Jewellery must not be worn in the pool.
Food and drink are not permitted on the poolside.
Swimmers must not chew gum etc. whilst swimming.
Hygiene - Swimmers must shower prior to entering the pool hall.
Glass bottles must not be taken into the changing rooms.
Any medical conditions should be reported to the child's swimming teacher
at the start of the first lesson.
